Bret Awbrey
About
Bret Awbrey is Vice President of Finance at Thirdpath, where he leads financial operations, FP&A, and long-term strategic planning across the firm’s private markets platform. He supports clients including Sway Capital, HBCU Founders Fund, and other private equity, private credit, and real estate organizations, developing pro forma structures, growth models, and private market cash management solutions.
He brings over 20 years of experience across finance and operations, with prior leadership roles at Accumen, Raytheon, Interpreta, and UPS. His background spans defense, healthcare, and technology environments, including managing Department of Defense programs exceeding $30 million and advising hospitals and startups on operational and financial performance.
Bret holds dual master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Leaders for Global Operations Fellow, earning an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and an SM from the Engineering Systems Division. He graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, where he captained the varsity swim team and earned All-American honors.
